If any of the requirements of subsection (1) or (2) are not complied with, the customs officer may authorize the ammunition or cartridge magazine to be exported from that customs office or may detain the ammunition or cartridge magazine and give the individual a reasonable time to comply with those requirements.

Where those requirements are not complied with within a reasonable time, the firearm shall be disposed of in the prescribed manner.
