    A certificate granted under subsection (6) remains in force for a period of twelve months from the date on which it is granted, and no longer, but if the period of twelve months expires at some time during the course of the voyage of the vessel in which the person under eighteen years of age is employed, the certificate remains in force until the end of the voyage.
