Section 33 of the Electricity Act 1989 (fossil fuel levy) is amended as follows.

In subsection (8), for the definitions of “leviable electricity” and “non-fossil fuel generating station”, there is substituted—.

After that subsection there is inserted—.
s. 2
— Short title, commencement and extent.
s. 2(1)
This Act may be cited as the Fossil Fuel Levy Act 1998.
s. 2(2)
This Act shall come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order made by statutory instrument appoint.
s. 2(3)
An order under subsection (2) may include such transitional provisions or savings as the Secretary of State considers appropriate.
s. 2(4)
This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland.
