    A certificate, other than a Cargo Ship Safety Construction Certificate, that has been issued pursuant to section 318 or 319 and that has not been extended under subsection (1) may be extended by the Minister or any person authorized by him for a period of not more than one month beyond the date when it would otherwise expire.
